Costume Discounters Review

Halloween may be a ways off yet but kids love to dress up year round in this house! With four kids, there has been no shortage of pretend play and dressing up in our home over the years. That's one reason I was so excited when I was recently given the opportunity to review a costume. Costume Discounters offer so many costume choices it was hard to choose. From newborn to plus size adult, they have something for everyone! I really liked that their site had everything categorized, making it easy to quickly find what you are looking for.

I looked through the amazing selection of costumes before deciding who to get a costume for. I decided to look for something my 3 year old would like. He's really into pretend play now and doesn't have much to dress up in to help bring life to his chosen role. I wanted something that he could use for dress up or as a Halloween costume. There were options such as super heroes, popular cartoon characters, historic & patriotic costumes, and animals just to name a few. I decided to let him help me choose which one to get.

He is a huge fan of trains, and anything else with wheels. So, when I seen the Train Engineer Costume I just knew he was going to love it. I wasn't surprised when he picked it as the one he wanted.

He was so super excited when the costume arrived! He just HAD to have it on right then. This costume came with the striped overalls, white shirt, hat and red bandanna.  The overalls had buttons that he could easily do and undo but weren't coming undone on their own. The shirt is a pull over shirt so he could easily put it on himself. The hat has elastic to help it stay in place. I was happy to see that the costume was well made and is holding up well to his use over the past week or so. He LOVES to wear it and luckily he has room to grow in it so he'll be able to use it for a while.

He was so excited I had a hard time getting a good picture of him in it. He was busy going around the room pretending to be on a train and pretending to sound the train horn (that's what the arm gesture's in the middle picture are).

They have the lowest prices with a price match guarantee. If you find an identical costume online for a lower price, they'll match the price PLUS take an additional 20% off! They also offer free size and product exchanges. I was very pleased with their quick shipping too.

I have at least one more costume to buy this year and know where I'll be going to get it! There was a very cute princess dress that caught my eye that I know my youngest will be adorable in! With their low prices, I can buy all the costumes we need without breaking the bank!

Note: I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

PottyCover Disposable Toilet Seat Covers for Kids ~ Review and Giveaway

PottyCover is a disposable toilet seat cover for children that covers the sides and the front of the toilet, to keep away germs at public rest-rooms. It is made of non-woven fabric coated with a layer of plastic, creating a waterproof barrier between the toilet and the child. This product has the largest coverage of all seat covers on the market and for added convenience, each seat cover is individually packaged in a small, easy to open bag that makes it super easy to always keep one or two in a purse or a back pocket.

I must say that one of the things I hate the most are public bathrooms. We are currently potty training my son and it always seems that the first place his hands go when he sits on the potty is on the seat to help hold himself up. Of course, his little fingers end up touching the bottom of the seat. This isn't so bad when we are at home but when we are out I cringe at the though of what could be on that seat!

I am so thankful that I found PottyCover! Now, when using public bathrooms, I don't have to try to line the seat with toilet paper and hope that it stays in place long enough. I love that these covers not only cover the top of the seat, they also cover the front and sides. Now when my little one uses a public bathroom he will touch the PottyCover instead of the toilet seat. So much better!!

I really like that these come individually packaged and are in gender neutral designs. That makes it so much easier than having to buy a boy theme and a girl theme since I have girls and a boy. The individual packages allow me to throw one in my purse or the diaper bag to have one handy at all times. I wish I had these when my older two were potty training!

We recently went out of town and stayed in a hotel for a few days. I brought these along and we used them in the hotel bathroom. We let it stay on the toilet instead of throwing it away after each use. I know they clean the bathroom when they clean the rest of the room but I still felt so much better using this PottyCover.

Where to buy: A pack sells for $5.99 on Amazon, Ebay, all Buy Buy Baby stores around the country and at select Bed Bath and Beyond stores.

Zoobies - Sponsor Spotlight

My kids all love animals. My youngest two love to carry around their stuffed animals, their blankets and often their pillows (which are also animals). So, what could be better for them than Zoobies pets. The Zoobies pet is an animal, a pillow and a blanket in one!

We got Zulu the Zebra. Zulu is so super soft. Two hook and loop velcro tabs on the underside holds it into a pet. You can undo these two tabs to transform into a comfy pillow. If you'd rather use it as a blanket, you simply unzip the zipper and pull the blanket out. The blanket can also be zipped off from the animal for washing.

This is the perfect solution for my kids to take along with them when we go on trips. They have an animal, pillow and blanket in one and it's the perfect size for them to carry themselves. We are going on a mini vacation soon and Zulu the Zebra will definitely be coming along with us!

My daughter decided she wanted to use the zebra as a pillow and blanket at the same time so we zipped off the blanket and inserted a small pillow she had inside the zebra and zipped it again. Then, she used the zebra as her pillow and cuddled up in the warm blanket.

I was pleasantly surprised with how big the blanket is, 44" x 34". The head is microbead stuffed. The zebra is 22" long x 7" wide x 13" tall. Zoobies pets are recommended for ages 3 and up, but safely tested for all ages. The zebra is just one of the many animals you can choose from. You can choose from a large selection of animals and popular cartoon characters.

I Am Happy! with Sukey Molloy Children's CD ~ Review and Giveaway

My son is super excited to add the "I Am Happy! with Sukey Molloy" CD to his collection! He loves the fun and silly songs on this CD. We have fun singing along with Sukey Molloy. This is the third in her award-winning series of children's albums to be released in April. This is meant for ages 2-5. There are 18 songs on this album that encourage participation. It will retail for around $15.99

Joining Sukey Molloy as co-producer of "I Am Happy!" is Grammy-winner Larry Alexander, who brings to the new release his work with some of the biggest stars in the music business, including Diana Ross (six albums), Bruce Springsteen, Willie Nelson, Bon Jovi, and David Bowie, to name but a few.

My little guy loves to try to act out the songs. It's so cute! One of his favorite songs on this CD is I Put My Scarf on my Head. He had me play it over and over since he was having so much fun. This morning he was walking around singing Cuckoo Bird, another one of his favorites. We highly recommend this CD! It's so much fun to listen to.

Farmer Jason Nature Jams ~ Review and Giveaway

We were recently given the opportunity to review the Farmer Jason and Buddies Nature Jams CD. My kids were very excited to listen to this new CD.

What is Nature Jams?

Nature Jams is a high-value, kid-friendly gift package of 16 original songs, 4 music videos and a colorful 20-page booklet created by über designer Brad Talbott.  The song styles range from rock and roll anthems to sea shanties, jazz to folk. Farmer Jason talks with his musical guests about taking hikes, going canoeing, skating and even spelunking. The idea is to get kids excited about the big world around them, observing various animals (“Meadowlark in Central Park,” “Manatee,” and “Dison the Bison”), learning about cool places around the world and simply enjoying nature. “The point is to motivate kids to get outside and excite their curiosity without being preachy,” says Jason. “We tried to make these songs energetic, fun and exciting.”

My kids LOVED this CD set! They were dancing around and trying to sing along with the words. My son loves animals so this was perfect for him. Listening to the songs about the various animals lead to conversations about them and a search for more information. His favorite song is "Meadowlark in Central Park". There is also a DVD with 4 fun music videos. The kids enjoy watching Farmer Jason and the kids having fun outdoors in the videos.

This CD has been played at least once a day since we received it! I am so happy to build my children's music collection with great music like this. It really makes them want to get up and move.
